Whenever a user (with its assigned IP address) visits our pages, the time that has elapsed since the last request is calculated. Is this amount greater than the server-dependent 'visit timeout' - time of 30 minutes, and the visitor wasn't logged before, the request is noted as new visit and the number of visits are raising. Both for the site, as well as the IP address that is associated with the visitor. So a user visits the site at 13:00 clock and then again by 15 clock, 2 visits would be counted. Due to the limitations of the HTTP protocol, logrotations and other (interfering) factors, the result should not be seen as an absolute number, but rather as relatively accurate approach.
